The Princess and the Warrior

A short picture combining traditional analog 16mm film shot on a Bolex camera with digital media shot on a Canon DSLR. This film explores the themes of destiny, adventure and slam poetry! This work pays tribute and is an open love letter to Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda video game series.
My goal for this project was to combine both traditional 16mm film and digital camera footage together into a narrative that bridges the past and current times in theme and technology.
I had also been listening to slam poetry and wanted to try my hand at it. I had wanted to try my hand at performing slam poetry, so I built the story as two congruent narratives that come together with a slam poetry reading for a finale.
Fun fact: I hiked two miles wearing chain mail armor while carrying a sword (plus camera gear) to the rustic location where the princess is found.
An Occasion For Two

This short and sweet picture was shot on 16mm analog film with all sound created by foley and added in post.
The story is simple; a girlfriend makes her boyfriend a special birthday breakfast quickly before he comes downstairs. I had a blast making this short - getting to experience the challenges of shooting on traditional analog film and creating all of the sound effects like a real foley artist would - by watching the shots and replicating the sound effects in real time.
As fun as it was to shoot this, my favorite part was eating that smiley breakfast!
