Independent feature film |  2017 - 2019  |  Roman LLC
Role: Assistant Director | Sequence Editor | Storyboard Artist
Roman must face the ghosts of his family's past while wrestling with the impact that his choices will have on the next generation in this psychological thriller directed by Dwight Wilkins.
"Roman" was my first major experience on a film set after graduating. While working with Dwight Wilkins - the writer and director - at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, we discussed his upcoming project and I was hired to bring his script to life visually through storyboarding.
During our 10 day shoot, I got first-hand experience in the independent film scene of Philadelphia by working closely with the director, cinematographer, and actors - including Brian Anthony Wilson (Creed, Law Abiding Citizen). It was a blast continually learning from everyone while being able to give my creative insight to the process - even during the 14 hour days.
I knew It would be a monumental task to edit a feature length independent film so fresh out of school... so I jumped at the chance!
I learned the insights of making creative decisions for a longer running narrative through editing - the pain of cutting favorite scenes to make the story stronger, the technical difficulties of sound design with a wide variety of locations, and how paramount it is to work closely with your actors on set to direct the flow of a scene in post.
Roman took home the Best Narrative Feature Film award at the Cannes Silk Road Film Festival in 2021! I'm proud I was able to leave my creative handprint on this story.
